I’m tired. So today I decided to find a verse regarding resting and meditating on it.
Matthew 11:28-30
28 Come to me, all you who labour and are burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.
Jesus extends an invitation to those who are weary and burdened, offering them rest. The yoke metaphor felt apt, heavy, beast of burden weariness. Jesus is encouraging to take up His yoke instead, and I reckon he is the other person on the other side of the yoke, helping me pull it along. A partnership with Him would definitely be easier than going it alone.
This verse underscores the concept of finding solace and tranquillity by entrusting one’s burdens to God and embracing a life in alignment with His teachings. It encourages individuals to come to Jesus, laying down their struggles and discovering the rest that comes from a deep, abiding connection with Him. So I’d need to to lay down my yoke I guess and pick up His… mmm
